In 1978, five childhood friends Lenny Feder, Eric Lamonsoff, Kurt McKenzie, Marcus Higgins and Rob Hilliard win their junior-high-school basketball championship. Afterwards they celebrate at a rented lake house. The friends' coach, Robert Ferdinando, whom they nickname "Buzzer", encourages them to live their lives in a similar way to how they played the game. 30 years later, Lenny has become an ambitious Hollywood talent agent who lives with his fashion-designer wife Roxanne and their daughter Becky and sons Greg and Keith. Much to his chagrin, his boys act like divas in his mansion. Eric claims that he's now co-owner of a furniture company and hates that his wife Sally still breastfeeds their 4-year-old son Bean. Kurt is a stay-at-home dad to Andre and Charlotte; his wife Deanne, the family's primary breadwinner, is pregnant again and her own mother Ronzoni lives with the family. Rob, nicknamed Carrot, has been divorced three times and has custody of daughters Jasmine, Amber, and Bridget; his current wife Gloria is 30 years his senior. Marcus is a slacker and lothario. All five friends regularly harass each other in comedic fashion: Lenny for being wealthy, Eric for being overweight, Kurt for being henpecked, Rob for his continuous use of the joke "Maize!" and for having a much older wife, and Marcus for being sexually juvenile.
Roxanne settles on staying at the lake house rather than attending the fashion show. The friends visit a water park called Water Wizz, where Eric teaches Bean to drink regular milk directly from a carton, and Marcus repeatedly flirts with Jasmine and Amber and buys them skimpy bikinis. The families cause chaos throughout the park: Rob pushes a ride attendant down a waterslide when he insults Bridget for being less attractive than her sisters; Eric ignores Donna's warning about a chemical in the children's pool that turns urine blue; the spouses spot and attempt to attract a bodybuilder, then jeer at his high-pitched Canadian accent; and at the zipline attraction, Lenny and the group meet up with Dickie again, accompanied by his own group of friends and former teammates, including Wiley, who is severely injured after crashing into a shed while sliding down the zipline by his feet, which traps him in a full-body cast for the foreseeable future.
Lenny teaches his son how to shoot a perfect basketball shot, and the friends end the night dancing with their spouses. The next day, Roxanne busts Lenny for lying about canceling their flight before she agreed to stay, and he admits that he just wanted their kids to be normal for once. Eventually, everyone confesses how they feel with their lives: Deanne believes Kurt plans to dump her for the Feders' live-in nanny, but Kurt retorts that he only hung out with her because of Deanne's negligence; Eric reveals that he got laid off just before his trip and only acted like a big man so he wouldn't be the loser; Marcus had been feeling insecure about himself since reuniting with the old gang; all Rob admits is what everybody already knows: he wears a toupee. On their last day at the lake house, Lenny agrees to the rematch against their former opponents. At the game-deciding shot, Lenny purposely misses to gift Dickie's team a proper win so they can finally know what winning feels like--and he felt that his own family needed to know what losing feels like. Before the film's end, a drunken Marcus plays another game of arrow roulette, this time in front of more witnesses. Everyone fearfully takes off, but the still-paralyzed Wiley is unable to run away and the arrow impales his foot. He screams in pain and shouts "We win again!" before fainting.

Childhood friends Norbit Albert Rice and Kate Thomas , living at an orphanage doubling as a Chinese restaurant called The Golden Wonton owned by Mr. Wong (Murphy), are separated when Kate is adopted. Five years later, Norbit is rescued from playground bullies by a tough, overweight girl named Rasputia Latimore (Murphy), who becomes his protector from the other bullies and best friend. Rasputia grows into an arrogant and mean-spirited woman who eventually marries Norbit. After a while, she begins insulting and controlling him. Norbit is also belittled by Rasputia's older brothers Big Black Jack, Blue, and Earl, working as a bookkeeper at their construction company. The Latimore brothers also run a "security business" and instill fear in the entire community except Mr. Wong, who refuses to sell them his business.
Norbit discovers Rasputia is cheating on him with her dance instructor Buster Perkin , throwing away his wedding ring and venting his anger at a puppet show for the orphans. He is stunned to see Kate for the first time since childhood, and his affection for her reignites as he learns she is buying Mr. Wong's orphanage, but he is disappointed to learn she is engaged to Deion Hughes.
With help from ex-pimp friends Pope Sweet Jesus and Lord Have Mercy and other townspeople, Norbit meets Kate without Rasputia's knowledge. Deion is revealed to be helping the Latimore brothers in their plan to turn the orphanage into a strip club. The brothers dupe Norbit into getting Kate to sign papers to renew the restaurant's liquor license in the Latimores' name. Norbit's meeting with Kate leads to helping rehearse her wedding, where a kiss between them makes her reconsider marrying Deion. Norbit returns home to learn Rasputia witnessed their kiss, and she threatens violence against Kate if Norbit ever sees her again.
Kate goes to confront Norbit about the deal, and sees him being held prisoner by Rasputia, in their house’s basement. Norbit reluctantly insults Kate, deliberately driving her away so Rasputia will not hurt her. Satisfied, Rasputia lies that Norbit has manipulated Kate since she came back to town. Heartbroken, Kate runs away, and Norbit decides to leave town for good when he finds a letter from a private investigator he hired revealing that Deion is rich from various divorce settlements.
The Latimores reveal their plan to Norbit, and lock him in the basement again. Norbit escapes, reaching the wedding just in time to inform Kate of Deion's schemes. Though his proof of Deion's divorce settlements was destroyed after falling into a pond, Norbit presents Deion's ex-wives and children. Deion flees, and the Latimores attack Norbit, but the townspeople take up arms. Rasputia fights her way through the crowd and prepares to kill Norbit, but Mr. Wong harpoons her in the rear. Rasputia and her brothers are chased out of town, and Norbit and Kate buy the orphanage and marry under the same tree where they played as children. The Latimores move to Mexico and open up their strip club "El Nipplopolis", where Rasputia becomes their most popular and lucrative stripper.

Lieutenant Shane Wolfe of the United States Navy is assigned to rescue Howard Plummer, a man working on a top-secret government project, from a group of Serbian rebels. Shane and his team get Plummer from an enemy ship. However, while boarding the helicopter to escape, the team is attacked by the enemy. They kill Plummer and Shane spends two months in the hospital. Wolfe's commanding officer, Captain Bill Fawcett, is assigned to accompany Plummer's widow, Julie, to Zurich, where Plummer's safe deposit box has been discovered. Shane is assigned to stay at the Plummer residence in Bethesda, Maryland, to look for the secret project called GHOST and take care of the family's five children: Zoe, Seth, Lulu, Peter and the baby Tyler. The children prove to be difficult to handle, even with the help of the nanny Helga, who gives up when one of Zoe and Seth's jokes destined for Shane goes wrong. Shane finally begins to discover children's problems and solve them, earning their trust. Later, the school's deputy director, Duane Murney, informs Shane that Seth has cut and discolored her hair, has a Nazi bracelet in her locker and has skipped all fighting practices for a month. At home, Seth tells Shane that he only joined the fighting team because of his father. After Seth sneaks out of the house, Shane follows him to the city theater, where he learns that Seth has secretly joined an amateur production of "The Sound of Music." The director resigns because he believes the show will be a failure. Shane volunteers to take charge of the show, take care of the house, give driving lessons to Zoe and teach Lulu and her fellow Martial Arts Fireflies Scouts to defend themselves against rival boy scouts. When Seth leaves the fighting team, Shane challenges Murney to a fight fight in front of the entire school, which he wins easily despite Murney's fanfare show. That night, Shane discovers a secret vault under the garage, which requires a key to open. When Bill and Julie arrive home, Bill and Shane go to the garage, where Wolfe says he is rethinking his career. Two armed ninjas arrive and remove their masks, revealing themselves as the Chun, the North Korean neighbors of the Plummers. Bill suddenly hits Shane, revealing that he is a double agent and that he was the murderer of Howard Plummer. Mr. Chun restricts and takes care of the children while Bill and Mrs. Chun take Julie to the vault. They open the door, but a dangerous security system prevents them from proceeding. The children escape and wake Shane, who sends the children to look for the police while he goes to the vault to help Julie. Mr. Chun follows them in his car. With Zoe at the wheel, children force him to crash. Shane passes the security system using the dance that Howard used to make Peter sleep every night. Julie hits Mrs. Chun, Shane fights Bill who grabs A gun to kill him and Shane uses his voice to activate the final vault, the door hits Bill. By then, the children have attracted a large crowd of police to the house. Mr. Chun arrives and holds them all at gunpoint. Shane realizes that the school principal and his love interest Claire Fletcher are right behind him, having followed the persecution when he saw her go through the school. Shane distracts Mr. Chun with the help of Duck Gary, and Claire leaves him unconscious. With Bill and the Chuns arrested, Shane and the Plummers say goodbye, before the end Shane and Claire kiss. In Seth's performance, it is revealed that Shane retired from the Navy and joined the school staff as the new wrestling coach. Murney, dressed as a nun, also performs in the play, singing "Climb Ev'ry Mountain" out of tune.
